Lecture: "The Effects of Behavioral Psychology on Public Policy"

March 29, 2018 - 5:30pm

"The Effects of Behavioral Psychology on Public Policy"
Baruch Fischhoff

The Pitt Science Policy Group is delighted to host  Baruch Fischhoff, a world expert in risk perception, judgment, and decision making, for a lecture on how behavioral psychology affects policymaking.  Learn how to manage biases - and how to avoid them ourselves.

Emotion, bias, and dogma saturate today’s political climate. But why is that the case? What is it that when two people listen to a speech, one immediately hates it and the other loves it? How can some politicians and voters so easily reject overwhelming evidence against their positions?
