Pitt-Titusville Education and Training Hub Starts Fall Term

In-person classes began today, Monday, Aug. 24, at the University of Pittsburgh at Titusville’s Education and Training Hub, where several precautions have been put in place to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.

“We are excited to begin this new chapter in Pitt-Titusville’s history,” said President Catherine Koverola. “Our new Education and Training Hub will serve this region well as it meets the education and workforce training needs of our residents.”

The hub will be composed of three partners that will initially launch programs, then make adjustments and additions to address regional needs. The University of Pittsburgh will offer the associate of science in nursing program as well as replicate its world-renowned Manufacturing Assistance Center to offer comprehensive precision machinist training programs.

The hub's opening included extensive planning and the implementation of measures that support the health and safety of the Pitt-Titusville community, including neighbors in the region.

“As we have planned for the fall semester, we followed guidance from the University of Pittsburgh’s Healthcare Advisory Group, which includes world-renowned experts in the health sciences and public health fields,” Koverola said.

A variety of health and safety measures aimed at preventing community spread of the virus will be adopted on campus, including monitoring temperatures at building entrances; requiring students, faculty and staff to monitor health symptoms daily; mandating the use of face coverings while on campus; and updating campus dining and service polices at Haskell Library.

Campus dining services will remain open only to students, faculty and staff with physical distancing requirements both within the dining hall and throughout campus.

Pitt-Titusville remains committed to the health and safety of its student body and its employees. To learn more about Pitt’s ongoing initiatives related to COVID-19, please visit coronavirus.pitt.edu, and stay up to date with ongoing Pitt-Titusville events by visiting titusville.pitt.edu.
