Prevention at Pitt partnered with Saxbys on an awareness campaign

Along with their coffees and other hot drinks, customers of Saxbys on the University’ Pittsburgh campus will be getting a friendly reminder about consent, safety and resources available on campus for sexual assault prevention.

Through the month of November, Saxbys locations in the Cathedral of Learning, Hillman Library and the Big Idea Center will be providing specially decorated sleeves for hot beverages.

The sleeves, designed by Pitt’s Office of Communications and Marketing and lead prevention educator Willa Campbell (SPH '23G), include messages about healthy relationships and consent as well as a link to the Prevention at Pitt website.

Prevention has provided 5,000 cup sleeves for use while supplies last.

“We want to continue to promote a safe and consent-centered campus, and we also hope we can reach people who otherwise we wouldn’t necessarily reach — especially faculty, staff and grad students,” said Carrie Benson (EDUC ’12G), director of sexual violence prevention and education. “We’re hoping that people who frequent those cafes will check out the support resource link, get connected to resources and help to spread our messaging.”
