Meet the 2025 Celebration of Innovation and Entrepreneurship awardees

Anna Li

It’s been a busy year in Pitt’s Office of Innovation and Entrepreneurship (OIE).

In 2025, Pitt innovators submitted a record number of invention disclosures to the Innovation Institute, part of OIE, and formed 15 new companies born from research happening around the University.

Bold ideas also blossomed at the Big Idea Center, Pitt’s hub for student innovation, which launched a new ChangeMaker Scholar program that helps students develop their entrepreneurship skills and mindset. The Office of Industry and Economic Partnerships, meanwhile, facilitated nearly 50 new industry collaborations to bring Pitt innovations to life outside the University, and the Institute for Entrepreneurial Excellence engaged more than 1,700 clients with business consulting sessions and workshops.

Recently, OIE announced the students, faculty, staff and small businesses who have been honored with this year’s Celebration of Innovation and Entrepreneurship awards. These Pitt innovators are supporting parents in difficult circumstances, giving people more control over their health care, solving unmet patient needs with new medical devices and more.

Meet the winners of all six awards.
