What do CEOs, award-winning academics, thought leaders and political figures have in common?
A sizable fraction made a stop at Pitt during their careers, according to Time magazine and Statistica’s Best Colleges for Future Leaders list, which placed Pitt at No. 32, up seven spots from last year.
It’s perhaps no surprise Pitt would be identified as a place that nurtures future leaders, as the University counts Nobel Prize winners, hall-of-fame football players, prominent politicians and other leaders among its roughly 350,000 alumni.
The Time rankings were created by compiling a list of around 4,800 influential people in business, government and society and by using publicly accessible sources to identify the companies and colleges that played a role in their career.
The U.S.-based organizations with the most CV mentions relative to their size earned a place on the list, which features 125 universities and 175 companies that Time says played the biggest role in shaping these leaders.
Pitt ranked No. 12 among public universities, and the Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business is noted as a relevant subsidiary.
