Pitt Police won a Community Traffic Safety Platinum Award

The University of Pittsburgh Police Department received a 2025 Community Traffic Safety Platinum Award from AAA East Central during a Dec. 4 ceremony honoring regional police departments for the work they do to better local roadways and make communities safer for motorists and pedestrians.

Pitt’s neighborhood resource officer, Jeff Colello (pictured, left), accepted the award on behalf of the department. In 2024, Colello was named an Office of Public Safety and Emergency Management employee of the quarter for his work as pedestrian safety coordinator.
