On Dec. 6, Pitt School of Pharmacy student Alexandra Walton competed in the Dr Pepper Tuition Giveaway, winning $20,000 in tuition to help her pursue her dream of becoming a pharmacist.

Students competing in the giveaway submit written and video presentations. Six finalists are then given the opportunity to compete during three college football championship games, going up against their peers to see who can throw the most footballs into an oversized Dr Pepper can in 30 seconds.

Walton competed during halftime of the Big Ten Championship game, where she finished runner-up.

Walton is in her second year of Pitt’s PharmD program and is interning at Forbes Hospital in Monroeville. After graduating, she plans to serve as a Veterans Affairs pharmacist.
