9 Pitt affiliates were named New Pittsburgh Courier Women of Excellence

Nine Pitt leaders and affiliates have been recognized by the New Pittsburgh Courier as Women of Excellence for their professional achievements and contributions to the Greater Pittsburgh community.

The Women of Excellence Awards celebrate those whose leadership, service and accomplishments have made a meaningful impact across sectors including education, social services, community advocacy and health.

Pitt honorees in the 2025 class include:

  • Sarah Ashmeg, clinical assistant professor in the School of Medicine’s Department of Radiation Oncology
  • Charlyn Booker (SOC WK ’10, ’11G)
  • Kyaien Conner, director of the Center on Race and Social Problems
  • Kymberly Cruz (CGS ’12)
  • Monica Cwynar (SOC WK ’07G)
  • Tiffany Gary-Webb, associate director of the Center for Health Equity
  • Latoya Hamm-Wilson (EDUC ’09G, SOC WK ’16G)
  • Troy Lyons (A&S ’92, SPH ’20G)
  • Joveline Pettus (A&S ’02)
  • Rosalie Smiley (SOC WK ’79, ’80G, ’99G; SPH ’98G)

The honorees were celebrated at a dinner and ceremony at the Sheraton Pittsburgh Hotel on Dec. 4.
