2 Pitt students were selected as 2026 Roosevelt Network Fellows

Two Pitt students, Sahiti Kulkarni and Abbigayle Garvin, have been selected as 2026 Roosevelt Network Fellows. The fellowship, granted by New York City think tank the Roosevelt Institute, prepares students for careers as policymakers and public servants through undergraduate fellowships.

Garvin is a third-year public policy major with concentrations in Slovak Studies and Russian, East European and Eurasian Studies, as well as a member of the Alpha Delta Pi Alphia Iota Chapter and the Pitt Slovak Club. Garvin also serves as a youth mentor at HealthCorps, supporting high school teens in developing skills that promote physical, mental and social wellbeing. She received the Roosevelt in Washington Fellowship, a six-month immersion in the policy and advocacy work shaping debates in the nation’s capital.

Kulkarni is a first-year computer science and computational social science major interested in working in legislation and policy related to artificial intelligence. A member of the Student Government Board’s First Year Council and freshman chair for STEM outreach organization B.O.N.D.S., Kulkarni also conducts undergraduate research focusing on developing artificial intelligence tools to aid collaborative learning for deaf students in the sciences. Kulknarni received the Roosevelt Network’s Forge Fellowship, an entry point for first-and second-year undergraduates beginning to explore public policy.
