Pitt rose among its public AAU peers in the 2027 QS World University Rankings

Pitt climbed a spot among its closest public peers in the 2027 QS World University Rankings, rising to No. 21 among public members of the Association of American Universities (AAU).

The University held steady at No. 25 among U.S. public universities and No. 49 nationally. It placed No. 279 worldwide among the more than 1,500 institutions evaluated by Quacquarelli Symonds.

Pitt’s most consistent strength remains a student-faculty ratio of 14:1, which ranks it No. 1 among public AAU universities for the 15th consecutive year. 

Pitt continued to perform well in QS’s international research network indicator, which reflects the breadth and diversity of a university’s global research partnerships. The University also posted one of its strongest sustainability results to date, ranking No. 5 among public AAU universities.

The QS ranking is the latest affirmation of Pitt’s status as a global powerhouse: Earlier this month, U.S. News & World Report ranked Pitt among the top 2% of universities worldwide.
