Graduate student Ryan Lindner earned a Boren Award

Ryan Lindner, a master’s student in the School of Public and International Affairs, earned a 2026 Boren Award for International Study. This summer, Lindner is using his fellowship to study Russian at the Novamova Language School in Tbilisi, Georgia.

Funded by the U.S. Department of War and administered by the Institute of International Education, the Boren Awards provide undergraduate and graduate students with funding to study less commonly taught languages in regions critical to U.S. interests worldwide. In exchange, recipients commit to working in the federal government for at least one year after graduation.

Lindner previously received support from the SPIA Scholarship Fund to study global policy issues and Russian in Latvia.
