Thanksgiving Recess reminders

Thanksgiving is just around the corner and with it comes a University recess, as well as changes in hours of operation across campus. Here’s what you need to know.

For students, break begins on Sunday, Nov. 23. Faculty and staff Thanksgiving recess is Nov. 27-28.

Residence halls remain open over Thanksgiving break, with both professional and student staff on duty during that time.  

For the week of Nov. 16 to Nov. 22, timecards must be submitted and approved by noon on Friday, Nov. 21.

In addition to University closures, many offices and services across the Pittsburgh campus will change their operating hours:

Panther Central: Panther Central’s office close on Nov. 26 at 11 p.m. and reopen on Nov. 29 at 7 a.m. During this time, Panther Central employees are available remotely via phone or chat.

Mobility and transit: The mobility office closes on Nov. 26 at 3 p.m. and reopens on Dec. 1 at 8 a.m. Shuttles will have limited service Nov. 24-26 and will have no service Nov. 27-30. Service will return to normal on Dec. 1. In addition, Soldiers and Sailors Garage and Sennott Square Garage will both be closed on Nov. 27.

Dining: Many dining locations have modified hours for the Thanksgiving holiday week — see Pitt Eats’ website for schedules.

Student unions: Student unions will have modified hours Nov. 23-26, open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. They will be closed Nov. 27-30. Unions will return to normal operating hours on Dec. 1.

Health: Student Health Services and the University Pharmacy will be open Nov. 24-26, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Students can also call 412-383-1800 for support 24/7. The Office of Health Education and Promotion will keep its regular hours but will be closed on Nov. 27 and Nov. 28.

Counseling Center: The University Counseling Center will remain open Nov. 24-26, 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m.  Students can also call the Counseling Center at 412-648-7930 for 24/7 support. 

Recreation and wellness: Campus Recreation will have modified hours at the Recreation and Wellness Center, the Pitt Sports Dome and the Cost Sports Center Nov. 20-30. Visit the Campus Recreation website for specific hours for each day. The Stress Free Zone will be closed Nov. 22-30 and will re-open on Dec. 1.

Human resources and timecards: The Office of Human Resources will be closed Nov. 27-28. To reach OHR during the Thanksgiving recess, submit an online request.
