Donate Food, Unwanted Items at Clutter for a Cause/Most Wanted Stations April 22-30

From the possessions that rolled into apartments and residence halls on blue and gold carts under the August sun to the items that arrived in shopping bags and Amazon boxes in the months that have followed, all need to be dealt with as the end of the academic year approaches.

Pitt’s Clutter for a Cause collection has been offering a greener moveout alternative since 2016.

Donating unwanted books, clothes, electronics, household items and dorm essentials makes moving out more sustainable and benefits the University of Thriftsburgh campus thrift store, Pitt Surplus Property and community organizations.

This year, the Student Office of Sustainability and Eco-Reps also are partnering with the Pitt Police to collect non-perishable food and hygiene items for the Most Wanted Food Drive at Clutter for a Cause collection stations April 22-30.

Staffed collection stations are located on the Schenley Quad between Amos Hall and McCormick Hall; on the Litchfield Towers Forbes Avenue side patio and on the Upper Campus in the parking area next to Panther Hall, across from Sutherland Hall.

Donation hours are noon-5 p.m. April 22 and 23; 10 a.m.-5 p.m. April 24-29; and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. April 30.

In addition, unstaffed collection bins will be available in the Ruskin Hall ground floor lounge, Forbes Hall 2nd floor lounge and Lothrop Hall ground floor lobby for residents.

The Most Wanted Food Drive benefits the Pitt Pantry, Community Human Services and other local food pantries. Opened and expired items are not accepted.

A full list of accepted items and other 2021 Clutter for a Cause details can be found online.
