Francesca Savoia
"L'avvenire Avvenuto"
As you are using up the time you assume to have left at your disposal, you may end up rearranging in your memory many scenes and lines of your existential script and, with a sense that is both of relief and fear, you realize that nothing is erasable, that everything adds together, and that the future is not so accidental or unintentional, as it is - itself - part of the past.
Francesca Savoia is Professor of Italian at the University of Pittsburgh. Her scholarly work is in seventeenth, eighteenth and early nineteenth century Italian literature and cultural history, theater and opera. This is her second collection of poems.
