Screening: Balkan and Central Asian Women Filmmakers: Finding Their Own Voices in Post-Socialist Cinema

The Balkan and Central Asian Women Filmmakers festival celebrates the amazing film work being done by women in the Balkans and Central Asia.

Four films are screened during this weekend, with post-screening discussions to follow after each film. Dr. Yana Hashamova, the chair of the Department of Slavic and East European Languages and Cultures at Ohio State University, will give the keynote address at 4pm on September 29th. 

  • September 29, 4 p.m.-7:30 p.m.– 125 Frick Fine Arts: "Thirst" directed by Svetla Tsotsorkova (Bulgaria, 2016)
  • September 30, 10 a.m.-1:00 p.m. – 125 Frick Fine Arts: "Our Everyday Life" directed by Ines Tanovic (Bosnia, 2015)
  • September 30, 3 p.m.-6 p.m. – 232 Cathedral of Learning: "Nagima" directed by Zhanna Issabayeva (Kazakhstan, 2013)
  • October 1, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. – 232 Cathedral of Learning: "Ryna" directed by Ruxandra Zenide (Romania, 2006)
