The Petersen Events Center on the University’s Pittsburgh campus will be the site of Allegheny County Health Department (ACHD) vaccine clinics beginning on Wednesday, March 17, and into the following week. Approximately 1,000 vaccinations will be offered by appointment only to those 65 and older each day. Information about registration can be found online. The county also offers alerts to learn about upcoming clinics. Sign up to get notifications.

ACHD is providing the vaccine, while students and faculty from Pitt’s Schools of Pharmacy, Nursing, Medicine, Dental Medicine, and Health and Rehabilitation Sciences as well as the Graduate School of Public Health will serve as vaccinators.

Second dose appointments will be provided at the same location in the 28- to 42-day window recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Pitt hosted a similar clinic in January to vaccinate patient-facing students and health care personnel, and last month, the University partnered with community-based organizations to stage successful mass vaccination clinics in the Hill District and Homewood neighborhoods.

While Pitt now has an official vaccine provider agreement in hand from the Pennsylvania Department of Health, the University is not guaranteed to receive vaccines any time soon, and the timeline remains unknown and is outside of our control. See the latest information on Pitt’s vaccine planning.
