How to Access Pitt’s Virtual Graduation Celebration

A family watches commencement together online

Coming together in challenging times is what the Pitt community does. While our traditional in-person commencement ceremony has been postponed, we’re coming together virtually to celebrate our 2020 graduates on Sunday, April 26, at 11:30 a.m. ET.

The celebration of nearly 8,000 undergraduate, master’s, professional and doctorate candidates from the Pittsburgh campus will feature music and videos. Pittsburghers and members of the Pitt community will offer congratulatory messages as well as some surprise guests. In addition, the winners of the Emma Locke and Omicron Delta Kappa Senior of the Year awards will be revealed.

Scheduled to last about 30 minutes, the event will be streamed on both the University’s Facebook and YouTube pages with celebrations continuing on our social media accounts.

Here’s how you can be part of this historic gathering to celebrate Pitt’s Class of 2020:

Facebook: Tune in to the livestream on Facebook by going to the University’s official Facebook page. “Like” the page beforehand to receive a notification when the livestream begins.

YouTube: To watch the celebration on YouTube, visit the official University of Pittsburgh YouTube channel. When the livestream begins at 11:30 am ET, this video will appear at the top of the page with a “Live Now” icon—just click on the video to start watching. Subscribe to the channel to receive a notification when the live feed starts.

Smart TV: If you own a smart TV, open the YouTube app, search for the University of Pittsburgh and follow the instructions above.

Social Media: The fun doesn’t stop on the livestream! Keep the celebrations going on the University’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages by using #PittGrad20. We’ll be keeping an eye on this hashtag and sharing content from our Panthers all day long. These photos will also be included in our virtual recreation of the 1920 Living Panther—so be sure to post all your favorite Pitt photos.

Can’t tune in live? A recording will be available on Facebook and YouTube to watch whenever it’s convenient for you. Pitt also remains committed to honoring these graduates with a proper in-person commencement when circumstances permit large gatherings again.
