A recent survey of University research-related staff and postdocs showed that nearly two-thirds of respondents felt that Pitt’s research restart had gone at least as well as or better than they expected.

This is one of the results from an August survey aimed at monitoring progress on Pitt’s research restart initiative from the perspective of those affected by the policies.

The careful and phased process of restarting research after limiting on-campus operations due to COVID-19 last spring began early this summer. Senior Vice Chancellor for Research Rob A. Rutenbar, Acting Senior Vice Chancellor for Business and Operations and Vice Chancellor of Human Resources David N. DeJong and Vice Provost for Graduate Studies Amanda Godley were interested in understanding the perspectives of research-related staff and postdocs throughout the course of the restart process.

“We felt it was important to hear directly from the staff and postdocs for their perspective on how research returned to on-site operations,” said Rutenbar. “We want to meet their needs as best we can, in consultation with the provost and the vice chancellor for human resources.”

The Office of the Senior Vice Chancellor for Research has published results of the survey online. (Note: Scroll to the Survey Results: Restart Progress section at the middle of the page for the survey results.)
