Pitt plans to purchase 100 percent of the power from a low-impact hydroelectric plant to be built on the Allegheny River. The facility, expected to open in 2022, will generate enough power to supply a quarter of the Pittsburgh campus electricity needs.

Pitt senior and economics and neuroscience major Joseph Kannarkat is headed to the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom on a new version of the prestigious Churchill Scholarship, which expands the program into science policy.
