Graduating senior Andin Fosam made her mark at Pitt in athletics and academics. She plans to use her expertise in both to explore the relationships among physical activity, metabolism and conditions such as diabetes and obesity.

The concepts of "wisdom" and "knowledge" aren't as universal as one might think. Edouard Machery of the Department of History and Philosophy of Science is co-leading a study that received a $2.6 million grant to probe cultural differences in understanding some of philosophy's core tenets.

The inaugural Pittsburgh Summer Program of Pitt's Center for Philosophy of Science hosted 15 students from around the U.S. and Canada with the long-term goal of bringing more women and people from underrepresented groups into the discipline.
