March may not be sunny and warm, but there are plenty of ways to brighten your days this month. These events will have you creating and celebrating local art, revisiting 100 years of Nationality Rooms history and hearing from Pitt storytellers.

Press and decompress

Wednesday, March 4, 1 p.m.

Brighten your space with a new piece of art, bookmark or other paper craft during this dried flower art workshop. Any Pitt student is welcome to come reconnect with nature — after the activity, there will be a chance to share your experience and debrief with University Counseling Center counselors.

Swap professional attire

Monday, March 16, 1 p.m.

It’s internship season, which means it’s the perfect time to level up your professional wardrobe. Bring clothes to donate and swap them for new pieces or simply browse the David C. Frederick Honors College’s Dress for Success Closet to ensure you’re ready for interviews, work and beyond.

A century of culture

Thursday, March 19, 6 p.m.

Pitt’s Nationality and Heritage Rooms, along with the Cathedral of Learning, are celebrating a 100-year anniversary this year. Hear stories from various ethnic communities in the region and celebrate this long-standing University program during a premiere of a new documentary. Register to attend for free.

On the fringe

March 19-28

The Pittsburgh Fringe Festival, now in its 13th year, is your chance to see more than 40 performances while exploring venues around the city. From scripted plays to puppet shows and poetry readings to live music, there’s something for everyone to enjoy — and many shows are completely free.

Stories of womanhood

Monday, March 23, 5 p.m.

People from across the Pitt community will come together at the fourth annual HerStory Slam to share personal stories that explore being and becoming a woman. Connect with storytellers and your own lived experience at this meaningful Women’s History Month event. Want to participate? Submit your story by March 9.

Good vibes only

Tuesday, March 31

Connect with your community and find local resources for queer people during Transgender Day of Visibility activities at Pitt. The morning health bazaar will feature on- and off-campus organizations, free stylist sessions and refreshments. In the afternoon, grab free pizza, browse goods from local vendors and participate in fun activities.
