The Warhol Museum welcomes the return Pittsburgh-born, renowned sculptor Sharif Bey. The ceramicist’s creations, on display alongside work by Andy Warhol and Jean-Michel Basquiat, are inspired by modernism, functional pottery, and Oceanic and African art.

Sonic sounds

Take a deep dive into electronic music production at the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh. The monthly Gadget Playground is an opportunity to explore the library’s Musical Instrument Lending Library, hear guest speakers and view demonstrations. You can even try playing an electro-theremin, an antennae instrument that emits a high-pitched ethereal sound.

Move to the groove
Aug. 5 and Aug. 19, 6:30 p.m.
Bring your dancing shoes to Arts Landing, a new park nestled in downtown, for a free 30-minute intro to salsa dance lesson led by the founders of Salsa Pittsburgh. After the lesson, show off your new steps during an open dance session.

Friday, Aug. 7, 5 p.m.
The monthly Garfield Night Market is your chance to shop the city’s small businesses, view Pittsburgh-based artists, grab a bite from a food truck and take in a musical performance by a local act. This nighttime galleria is the place to see and be seen.

Roots music by the river
Friday, Aug. 14, 5 p.m.
Mosey on down to Allegheny RiverTrail Park for an evening of music, food truck snacks and waterfront views. This month, the park’s summer concert series features Fruition, a quintet known for playing a raucous blend of Americana, folk, blues and gospel music.

Bella, Edward and curios

The I Made It! Market’s gothic-themed evening is perfect for anyone with a taste for the macabre. The curated shopping experience featuring vintage finds and handmade crafts is running concurrently with a free showing of “Twilight.” Come for the ephemera, stay to hear Robert Patterson utter the iconic line, “You’d better hold on tight, spider monkey."
