We join the world in mourning the loss of Larry Kramer—a powerful advocate for those with HIV/AIDS, a writer and a pioneer in so many ways, including organ transplantation for HIV positive people. Watch him reflect on what it meant when he received a liver transplant at Pitt.
The University of Pittsburgh recently unveiled a sculpture of Thomas Starzl, “the father of organ transplantation,” near the Cathedral of Learning. Starzl is also featured in a new documentary with Pitt origins, titled “Burden of Genius.”
