With decades of conducting groundbreaking experiments, he will help position the interdisciplinary collaboration as a leader in quantum research.

Benjamin Hunt will join his longtime Pitt collaborator Michael Hatridge to further establish Pittsburgh as a headquarters for quantum computing. 

The physics professor will lead the collaboration between Pitt, Carnegie Mellon University and Duquesne University.

The funding will establish the Western Pennsylvania Quantum Information Core, a cross-disciplinary effort that will position Pitt and its partners at the forefront of the field.

The senior vice chancellor for research spoke about Pitt’s aggressive work in quantum science.
