The civics enthusiast, Brackenridge Fellow and social justice activist was recognized for his commitment to increasing local engagement among Pitt students.

As recipients of one of the University’s most prestigious awards, the students will conduct independent research, scholarship or creative work under the guidance of a faculty mentor.

The awards cover cost-of-living and other associated expenses for students participating in congressional or public service internships.

The summer program is a collaborative partnership between the David C. Frederick Honors College, Swanson School of Engineering, Pitt’s Office of Research and the Idaho National Laboratory.

These 13 students and alumni will travel across the globe to study, teach and conduct research.

The Frederick Honors College will fund their summer work on a long-term sustainable project.

The undergraduates will produce a piece of creative work under the mentorship of a faculty member or subject-matter expert.

The Frederick Honors College program supports students as they conduct full-time independent research over the summer.

Students on the regional campus will now have the same access to interdisciplinary research and mentoring resources as those in Pittsburgh.

Their chapter was also honored with the Northeast 3 Outstanding District Chapter Award.
