Michele Reid-Vazquez Receives National Endowment for the Humanities Grant
Michele Reid-Vazquez, associate professor of Africana Studies, has been awarded a National Endowment for the Humanities Summer Institute for Higher Education grant for her proposed institute, “Transnational Dialogues in Afro-Latin American and Afro-Latinx Studies.” The two-week event will host 25 higher education faculty who will bring a transnational perspective to Afro-Latin American and Afro-Latinx cultures in the U.S.

Shelome Gooden Named Research Leader Fellow
Shelome Gooden, Pitt’s first-ever assistant vice chancellor for research in the humanities, arts, social sciences and related fields at the University of Pittsburgh, is one of eight new Research Leader Fellows, named by the Council on Research, which is part of the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities.
