Paula Orozco-Espinel, a doctoral candidate in Department of History at the University of Pittsburgh Kenneth P. Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences, has been named a Charlotte W. Newcombe Doctoral Dissertation Fellowship recipient.
Orozco-Espinel is one of 20 scholars selected for this year’s fellowship, which has funded nearly 1,400 PhD candidates in the humanities and social sciences addressing questions of religion, ethics, morals or values.
Orozco-Espinel is being recognized for her dissertation on the history of feminism in Colombia. She enrolled at Pitt in 2020 following her time at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia, where she received her BA in history and MA in gender studies.
