Anyone who witnessed Olivia Babcock’s high-flying, recording-breaking 2024 season with Pitt volleyball knows she deserves all the accolades. Thanks to ESPN, fans can help her collect a new one.
Babcock just became the first Panther in a women’s sport to be nominated for an ESPY. From now until July 16, fans can vote for her to win best college athlete in women’s sports against some tough competition in fellow nominees JuJu Watkins (University of Southern California basketball), Kate Faasse (University of North Carolina soccer) and Gretchen Walsh (University of Virginia swimming).
An ESPY win would cap off a stellar year for Babcock. After helping the volleyball team to its sixth Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Championship and fourth NCAA Tournament Final Four appearance, Babcock picked up numerous national honors, including the ACC Player of the Year, the American Volleyball Coaches Association Player of the Year and a Honda Sports Award.
Babcock, a right-side hitter, also set a program record with 71 aces last season.
Fans can tune into the ceremony at 8 p.m. July 16 on ABC or ESPN+ to see if Babcock takes home the hardware.
