On June 6, the University of Pittsburgh will host its second annual Transfer Pathways Summit, bringing together educators, administrators and students from across the region to explore how four-year institutions can better support community college transfer students.
Organized by Pitt’s School of Education, Office of Admissions and Financial Aid, and Office of the Provost, the summit will highlight best practices for supporting transfer students throughout their academic journeys, from initial outreach to post-graduation.
Keynote speakers include Frank Harris III, professor and co-director of the Community College Equity Assessment Lab at San Diego State University. Harris’ work spans student affairs, academic advising and crisis support, and he has served as principal or co-investigator on more than 30 research grants.
Also speaking is Manny Smith, a first-generation college graduate and founder of EdVisorly, a platform that supports community college students with clear pathways to complete their bachelor’s degrees. He currently serves as a major in the U.S. Air Force reserves and continues to mentor students pursuing higher education.
The summit will also feature a transfer student panel and a colloquium with community college presidents from Allegheny, Beaver and Butler counties.
The event is free and open to all Pitt students, faculty and staff. Registration is open.
