Get the most interesting and important stories from the University of Pittsburgh.Five incoming first-year University of Pittsburgh students from across Pennsylvania have been selected as 2025 Stamps Scholars for their leadership, academic achievement and service to their communities.
Pitt is one of just 37 institutions nationwide to partner with the prestigious Stamps Scholars Program, which covers full tuition, room and board, and mandatory fees along with an allowance for books and supplies. The scholarship also includes up to $17,400 in enrichment funding that can be used toward study abroad experiences, unpaid internships, academic conferences and other educational pursuits.
“I think this scholarship is probably my biggest achievement ever in my whole life,” said Ushan Dahal, a recent graduate of Seton-La Salle High School in Clairton, Pennsylvania. “It just allows me to dream bigger, do more for my family and my future, too. It’s going to give me the independence to do research, engage in leadership and provide service for my community without any kind of financial stress.”
Dahal, a first-generation student and refugee who immigrated to the U.S. from Nepal in 2008, plans to study finance in the School of Business with the hopes eventually pursuing a career in corporate law. He said studying finance at Pitt will provide a strong foundation for his long-term goals as well as opportunities to grow as a leader and engage in service.
