A Sept. 13 virtual lecture by Sen. Bob Casey will address the pandemic’s impact on people with disabilities and the need to bolster home- and community-based services.

The inaugural position will lead continued antiracist initiatives at the school.

Art panels along Alumni Walk will showcase work from 17 artists from the University community, including regional artists. It will be on display in Oakland for two weeks.

Michele Reid-Vazquez, associate professor of Africana Studies, has been awarded a National Endowment for the Humanities Summer Institute for Higher Education grant for her proposed institute, “Transnational Dialogues in Afro-Latin American and Afro-Latinx Studies.” The two-week event will host 25 higher education faculty who will bring a transnational perspective to Afro-Latin American and Afro-Latinx cultures in the U.S.

The award, which comes with a $2,000 prize, recognizes a faculty member’s efforts to integrate diversity and inclusion concepts into courses and curricula.
